Painting, sculpture and movement

Tobias Post combines painting, digital light art and sculpture; he understands painting and light art as two manifestations of the same artistic question. The connections lie in the works themselves: colours and structures of the painting series VERLUST recur in DORNENSTAUB, and the Sculpt series sets printed sculptures in motion.

FLACHER RAUM

As in FLACHER RAUM, the form changes its state: discs, rings and gears on fixed paths – placements of Concrete Art – turn into contourless colour powder when touched.

    Sculpt – Ringkern

A printed sculpture from the sculpture garden, set in motion digitally: cubes and rings remain concrete forms; only in motion – in elastic rotations and points that break away – do they acquire an informel impulse.

Test print, not an edition: the 25-centimetre-high printed version of the sculpture that “Sculpt – Ringkern” sets in motion – the sculpture first as an object.

Painting as a starting point

    VERLUST

Non-representational oil paintings from 2023 about rhythm, counterweights, optical chains and ruptures – their colours and textures are the material of the immersive work DORNENSTAUB.

  • Artworks · 2025 · with film

    DORNENSTAUB

The immersive work deliberately uses colours and textures from VERLUST: what is rupture and loss in the paintings becomes transformation and movement via 3D sensors.

In the church of St. Maximilian Kolbe, the immersive installation DORNENSTAUB and the painting series VERLUST stood side by side – two connected works in one space.
